1797. A decree granted real city status to Alberobello.

In 1797, a group of courageous men of Alberobello, tired of this precarious situation, went to Taranto to ask for help from King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon who received them and made them a promise. On 27 May 1797, the king sent a decree freeing the village.
