1944. Fermo remembers its 1944 liberation
On June 20, the city of Fermo, in the Marche region of Italy, commemorates the liberation of Fermo and its province, which occurred on June 19–20, 1944, during World War II. On those days, Allied forces crossed the Chienti River and freed the area, which had suffered combat and massacres, including the Caldarette d’Ete massacre.
